This record is the digitised text of British General Lionel Dunsterville's 1918 diaries, published by the Great War Documentary Archive. Dunsterville commanded Dunsterforce, the British column sent via Persia to Baku, which defended the city against the Caucasus Army of Islam. The diaries offer a first-hand view from the opposing side of the military and political situation in Baku, relations with local authorities, and the September 1918 evacuation.
