Russian-language scholarly article examining Azerbaijan's incorporation into the Soviet state and British policy toward Transcaucasia in 1918-1920 on the basis of British archival records.

Published in the historical sciences series of the V. I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University journal, V. V. Mikhailov's article draws on previously unused British archives and House of Commons documents to analyse British policy toward the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (1918-1920). It highlights disagreements within the British government, military and public opinion, and traces the political and socio-economic dimensions of Azerbaijan's absorption into the Soviet state. For the collection it contextualises British influence over Baku and Transcaucasia in the period immediately following the Army of Islam's campaign.
