Made up of an introduction, five chapters and a conclusion, the book treats the Armenian question within a frame the author calls "Armenianism", read through the concepts of modernity and capitalism. The chapters are titled "Capitalising Armenianism (1630-1750)", "Politicising Armenianism (1750-1890)", "Terrorising Armenianism (1890-1918)", "State-building Armenianism (1918-1990)" and "Globalising Armenianism"; the work draws on Azerbaijani, Russian and Armenian archival documents, periodicals and secondary literature, with statistical appendices and maps. The chapters on 1890-1918 and 1918-1990 are the ones that overlap with the period immediately before and after the Caucasus Islamic Army's campaign. The book is a polemical work written from a Turkish-Azerbaijani perspective; the collection places sources offering competing narratives of the same period side by side.
